Bismillah Hir Rahman Ir Raheem
Peace and blessings be upon you all
Assalam Alaikum, everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. So on Sunday, I attended a talk by Youth Club. I came across Youth Club when I was organising SIST last year and this year. I thought about attending an event of this club last year but then MBBS dragged me away from it. This year I am striving to improve my relationships with Allah Subhana Ta’allah and RasulAllah (SAW) because I think my intense studying is taking a toll in them and I want to make amends and take action before I go astray. I went astray before; I will not again Inshallah. In addition, I want to know how my fellow Muslims are working hard to spread the Message of Allah and engage in healthy halaal activities.
The title of the talk is “The Countdown” and it took place at Aiwan-e-Quaid in F-9 Park on Sunday from 10am to 3pm. The talk was about the major and minor signs of the Day of Judgement and it was given by two speakers: Muhammad Ali and Tuaha Ibn Jalil. I will tell you about the talk given by Muhammad Ali about the minor signs and those were really thought-provoking and very scary. Many Hadis were presented and explained by the speaker, which I’ve mentioned in this post.
The speaker talked about Fitnah, which means trials and tribulations that one experiences in life. These came be obvious things such as the temptation to steal something valuable, money, power but it can also be children and family, if they deter you from following Allah’s commandments and the Sunnah of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). Fitnah is something we will always be surrounded with and we need to protect ourselves and overcome these trials instead of succumbing to them. Only then will one achieve true success.
Then he talked about the youth. The youth nowadays always want fun, entertainment and excitement. They want a non-stop queue of Netflix and social media like Facebook, Instagram, etc. They’re watching movie after movies, shows after shows in which most have obscene and inappropriate language, vulgarity, misbehavior and disrespect towards parents, etc. Even five seconds of boredom is a sin to them. Through this, their purposes in life have changed and their higher thinking capability is diminishing. In addition, with all this need for enjoyment, they have considered their fathers as ATM machines & mothers as maids. How can the youth of today be competent future leaders when they are not engaged in healthy, skillful and thought-stimulating activities? In all this mess, people will bow to Dajjal. How can you resist Dajjal when you can’t resist indecent TV series? (not referring to every member of the youth, of course. Allah knows best).
In the Hadis mentioned above, mentioning those who possess a black spot in their heart, this refers to those who have possessed relative morality. That means their morality isn’t fixed because their desires are their nabi(god).
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (Blessings and Peace of Allah be upon him) said:
“Hasten to do good deeds before there emerges FITNAH like a peace of black night, when a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning, and he will sell his religion for worldly gain.”Sahih Muslim (118)
Due to our weakness to remain steadfast against Fitnah, the quality of humanity has become low. People are rejecting their religion for mere worldly achievements like certificate, badges, acknowledgement, recognition when they forget that true victory comes from Allah which doesn’t require others’ validation. The only way this can be improved is by strengthening our Emaan. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) explains this scenario in a Hadis that is quite scary to me, which the speaker mentioned:
“Time will come where you’ll have to climb mountains to save your religion”Sahih Al Bukhari (Volume 9, Book 88, Number 210)
The Hadis above can refer to many things but the speaker said it could refer to technology, social media and easy access to harmful information that can become so dangerous that a person would have to travel far away, carrying his Deen with him. Considering what a dark world the Internet can be and how technology can be used, it is understandable.
Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
“By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! The Hour will not be established until predators speak to people and until the tip of a man’s whip and the straps on his sandal (shoe) speak to him, and his thigh informs him of what has occurred with his family after he left.“Jami Tirmidhi, Hadith no.2181
For the Hadis above, the speaker said that ‘predators talking to people’ could be considered as animated films where animals are talking in the language of humans, ‘tip of a man’s whip’ can be referred to as a telephone cable, ‘straps of sandals speaking to him’ can be referred to actual automated talking shoes that tell information like distance, speed, heartbeat, etc, and ‘thigh informing him..’ can refer to people’s phone placed in their pant pockets that let them know how their family are. Of course this is just one of many possible intepretations and these signs are possibly not sins of people, just minor signs of what people will be doing close to the Day of Judgement (same goes for the other Hadith).
The above Hadis mentions that people will have musical instruments on their head. Whether its haram or not, I will not talk about it but it is quite shocking that how could Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) have known what would happen 1400 years after his life!
Nowadays, the youth is undergoing mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Although these are caused by medical conditions often genetic, often times it’s because their mind and body may experience nourishment but their soul is completely deprived of it. Due to detachment from their faith, they look at other avenues of satisfying the soul which prove ineffective such as drugs and to the extreme extent, contemplate and commit suicide. A huge number of the Japanese youth is in depression and commiting suicide, about 25,000 people last year. In China, there are three bridges in Hong Kong where people commit suicide by jumping off from them.
In addition, a major cause of anxiety is caused when one severs ties with members of his family which RasulAllah (SAW) strictly forbade and said that he wouldn’t enter Paradise. If this is a sign of Day of Judgement and there’s the guarantee that he will not enter Paradise then may Allah guide us all on the straight path.
On the other hand, our prophets would spread knowledge and good and yet get be insulted, bullied, beaten ruhtlessly and even killed. Inspite of all these hardships, they maintained their faith and stood strong, hence they were Allah’s best people. If we experience the same or actually much less as compared to them, that’s what we will be considered in front of Allah. How beautiful is that?
“……it will be said to a man, ‘How wise he is. How charming he is, and how hardy he is.’ but he will not have a mustard seed amount of Emaan in his heart.”Bukhari
People are shaken by a tweet instead of an ayat. They are focused on likes and subscribers. When families visit other families in order to find a future spouse for their child, they don’t see how much Emaan he or she has, how much love he or she has for RasulAllah (SAW) and Allah Subhana Ta’allah, how he or she treats others, etc. Instead, they only check his or her outlook, qualifications, family property, wealth, etc. In the end, this can result in difficult marriages which can cause increase in divorce rates.
“There will come a time when a man will not care how he earns his wealth; whether it comes from a halaal or haraam source.”Sahih al Bukhari
In schools, children taught how to earn effectively, but they’re not taught how to earn halal living instead of haram. Mortgage and student loans are common in the Western society which is considered haram because that’s how companies unlawfully suck a lot of money out of desperate people. However, according to the speaker, there are people who give rent instead of mortgage in Western society.
“When false testimony becomes widespread and the people begin to think little of it, this is one of the signs of the hour.”Musnad Ahmad
In the day and age of easy access to information and freedom of speech, it is common that unchecked information is shared to others who, if they don’t verify the source, will accept and adopt it which has serious consequences as seen in many blasphemy cases against religious minorities in Pakistan. Hence, RasulAllah and Allah (S.A) are strictly against false rumours and testimony. In addition, when given speeches about a certain topic, it is very important to check if someone is qualified to talk about that topic or not……some of these people can be your world leaders.
It’s quite interesting how the Hadis mentioned skyscrapers built in desert-laden cities like Dubai as the sign of the Day of Judgement. Whether it’s just a sign or also considers it a sin, i don’t know. I’ve forgotten or am unclear about the sign of the slave woman. If anyone knows, do mention it in the comment.
The speaker said that the Apple logo is inspired by the forbidden apple which was eaten by Hazrat Adam and Hazrat Hawa/Eve (A.S). According to Islam, Shaitan deceived them into eaten the fruit, convincing them that by eating the apple, they would attain immortality and be gods. Since the logo contains an eaten apple, it’s an ironically strange publicity of what possessing an Apple product makes one into.
Furthermore, the speaker talked about a concept called Futurism or Transhumanism – the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology. It has a YouTube channel by this name that you can check out. I’ve yet to understand what it means but it is supposedly un-Islamic as according to a Hadis mentioned earlier, RasulAllah (SAW) has told us to go to the mountains in order to save our religion from being influenced by this.
Furthermore, there are many concerts, CDs, albums under name of ‘I am’ – where one sees himself as self-sufficient and self-existent, associated with self-centeredness and arrogance and ‘everything is me’. In this way, singers are claiming that they are god which is Shirk, an unforgivable sin.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter responsible for stimulating pleasure in the brain. As the youth today is busy more in entertainment rather than responsibilities, according to scientists, their dopamine centers have dilated so much that they need larger stimulations of dopamine in order to achieve pleasure and enjoyment. Hence, people aren’t satisfied; 200% less satisfied as compared to older people!
“Psychologists say that people have intellectually & humanitarially gone so down that next Abdul Sattar Eidi will come 50 years later”

After having listened to this eye-opening talk with a lot of intellectual yet scary Hadis, it is up to us to be aware of the warning signs of Fitnah around us, educate ourselves, increase our Emaan and implement on the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah in order to secure our place in Jannah in the Hereafter, so that we do not fear death but work towards a death worthy of the Ummah of RasulAllah (SAW) and the creation of Allah. Also think that when you’ll have children or if you already do, will they grow to be true Muslims?
In addition, in the face of adversity and hardships we face, instead of giving up in despair, we need to stand by & defend our Deen as our prophets and their sahabah did, and bear witness that its truthful and Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is truthful.
I end this post by a Hadis which really resonated with me due to my personal experience related to it.
“There will come a time when a man will be given the choice between being labelled incompetent and committing immorality. WHOEVER LIVES UNTIL THAT TIME SHOULD CHOOSE INCOMPETENCE OVER IMMORALITY.”Narrated by Ahmad
