Today’s the last day of my winter vacations. They were only of eleven days but since I spent almost a week longer, they felt longer which made me think that so much time has passed, why isn’t college starting?
I’ve been requested by my college’s student society to write the introduction of the theme next year’s SIST event that will take place soon and this will be displayed on its website. As last year’s SIST was great, I’m really excited for what SIST 2020 will bring.

As winter approaches, the joy of soup emerges. However, soup is a meal not limited by seasons.
Tuesday, 3rd December
The first module of Second Year MBBS is Nutrition and Metabolism. Yesterday, we got an introduction about the basic essence of each nutrients and how much of each we should have.
This picture is taken from my professor’s presentation comparing the diets of various regions. In Pakistan, our diet mostly consists of carbs such ad in rice, roti, bread, potatoes, etc. High intake of carbohydrates can lead to obesity as the body is busy digesting carbohydrates for energy that it doesn’t get time to digest fats. This can increase the chances of cardiovascular diseases.
I also learnt that you can survive without any intake of carbohydrates as glucose can be produced from conversion of fatty acids and amino acids in your body by the process of gluconeogenesis. Hence, if you want to lose weight, one solution is to reduce your carbs.
Wednesday, 4th December
In light of what I learnt above and also in attempt to increase my stamina for sports, I’ve decided to jog early in the morning after Fajr and before I go to college without having had eaten anything between waking up and jogging. This is because by this time, gluconeogenesis is taking place so I make use of it by exercising so that more fats are broken down.
It’s very cold at the time but it’s nice to watch the Sun beginning to rise.
Thursday, 5th December
After the first class, my friends called me to watch with them. We walked in the park in front of the college…..well, that was the side dish along with talking, giggling, racing each other and taking pictures. When I saw all the colorful, dry and crunchy leaves on the floor and the view in front of me, I couldn’t help but take a picture and wonder how Allah makes a season such as Fall so beautiful.
Friday, 6th December
After getting multiple hints that made everyone in my class really anxious, we finally got our result. I passed with 70% score, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah!!! Apart from a few, many of my friends passed too without having to give any Supple. Eighteen people from my class have to give Supple of whatever block they failed in. Inshallah they’ll pass those otherwise they’ll have to repeat first year.
My friends and I celebrated this achievement by munching on ice cream at McDonald’s in F-9. Sadly, McDonald’s is not selling McFlurry Cornetto Chocolate often, which I love and is the only reason I even go to McDonald’s. I had to settle with McFlurry Oreo which is delicious but not the same as Cornetto Chocolate.

I have been eating so much soup lately, especially for lunch but it mostly comes out of a tin. Yours looks so tasty!
Good luck with the jogging.
That is a beautiful autumnal photo.

When I cut wheat from my diet I found I craved sugary foods in place of the carbs, I introduced potatoes into my diet and upped my rice intake. I then lost some weight and am currently just maintaining it with a healthier diet. Well done on your results
