Project 366 2020 – WEEK 48

Bismillah Hir Rahman Ir Raheem

Peace and blessings be upon you all

Sunday, 22nd November

I went out for another afternoon of brunch at Islamabad Club. Food was great as always and at the end, I dived into every slice of pie for dessert because they looked and tasted so good!! On the way back, I came across these lovely flowers which looked so beautiful and identical yet with different colours.

Monday, 23rd November

I shall sacrifice my sleep on Saturday by taking part in this walk/run, organised by Kareem Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF) . I’m going there along with a couple of students from my college to help spread awareness and raise funds for Chal Foundation, which is dedicated to providing prosthetics to the disabled people in Pakistan.

Tuesday, 24th November

Here’s another poster of the event on Saturday (because I forgot to take pictures today).

Wednesday, 25th November

Here’s my cutie patoutie little pup who’ll be 11 months old in 5 days.

Thursday, 26th November

Remember the plane I mentioned that was hanging around in my colony? Well, say hello to it again.

Friday, 27th November

When you’re frying your brains while studying for professional exams only to find out in the afternoon that they’ve been delayed. Ideally, I would’ve wanted exams to be on the same date and on campus but our government announced that all educational institutions will be closed till 11th January 2021. Our college announced last week that exams would be online, which all the students were against as there is no guarantee on electricity and Wi-Fi being constant during the duration of the exam, especially if there’s not much they can do on their end. Apart from this, cheating is easy so the validity of these exams will be considered and who knows, we’d have to give the exams again. So finally, they decided to delay the exams. Hence, I’m on my way home. I’ll try to catch up on comments as soon as I can.

Saturday, 28th November

It’s Saturday and me and my fellow students set up the stall for Chal Foundation at Shakarparian Open Air Theatre, along with putting up posters at this location and along the route of the walk/run. Then we headed to Rose and Jasmine Garden where we each got a KKAWF T-shirt and a fabric face mask. There were also patients there who had been treated at Chal Foundation. They went on the mini ‘Choo-Choo’ train throughout the journey of the walk; from the Gardens to the Theatre.

I thought we were supposed to walk along with the patients but the train just sprinted off and we walked on, being the last people to reach the theatre 😛 After that, there was a prize distribution ceremony for the winners, an acoustic guitar performance and a dance. It was an interesting and fun event.

This function was headed by Christina von Sperling Afridi, the woman on the stage who has Brazilian origin and married a Pakistani. Her son died from drug overdose hence she started this Foundation to carry out functions an activities for the youth to provide positive, extra-curricular functions for them to spend their time on rather than giving in to drug addiction.

How annoying about the exams. Although it is good that they agreed to just postpone them and not just to move them online. Well done on the fund raising.

How frustrating to have the exams delayed when you’ve been studying so hard for them. I can understand the concerns over online exams though. Hope that they get rescheduled soon and that they go well. Well done on doing the walk – it sounds like it was a fun event. #project366

Your brunch sounds lovely, and lol @ trying all pies. Sorry to hear that the exam has been delayed, that’s disappointing. Hope you’re not too stressed about it. Well done on doing the charity event on Saturday, it sounds like a worthy cause to help out.

Well done with raising funds and supporting KKAWF, such a good organisation to be involved with. Happy 11th month birthday to your pup, almost 1 by the time you read this. Sorry to hear about the delay with your exams, I hope they go well for you on the new date

Well done on doing the walk – it sounds like a very worthy cause. Oh no, not cool for the exams – and now you have to keep on revising so you don’t forget everything you’ve been learning – grrr ! I did have a little giggle at the image of you tasting all the pies !
