My sister got Nikkah-fied!! She and her new spouse signed the legal document, the Nikkah Nama, tonight, making them officially a wedded couple! I thought I might get emotional when that happened but honestly I was just too excited and happy to feel any other emotion. After she signed the document and the Maulvi and everyone was headed to the groom, my siblings and I goofed around for a while in the room.
Moreover, it was lovely meeting all the friends and family I’ve known for years. Normally in weddings, I barely know half the people, so this event felt amazing to me.

Now that the festivities are over, I have an exam tomorrow that I need to prep for. Doh!!! Fortunately, it’s a practical so the main thing I need to do is go through all the models, histology slides and practical handouts which can be done today, if I include some coffee and sleep deprivation. However, I think coffee doesn’t fit with my body’s system anymore. Before, coffee just kept me awake. Now, along with that, it speeds up my metabolism so much that I have the urge to defecate frequently almost every 2 hours and I was starving like anything. Have anyone of you felt this way? Hence, I’m going to have to put a stop to coffee drinking, unfortunately.

Have you ever seen so much beautiful decadence in one picture? Dark Chocolate is my favorite, and we were gifted three bars of it! 😀
Wednesday, 11th November

My sister and I met up with a friend at BLT, our favorite spot. I ordered a Chicken Monte Carlo, which comes with some delicious black pepper sauce. We ate outside for our safety and that lead to two stray cats getting accustomed to us, walking around us. One of them, a black and grey cat, kept staring at me with her tiny eyes as if I was some divine specimen. We picked her up but they wanted to let her have bits of leftover cheesecake, to which I firmly said NO! I didn’t want to get the cat sick, they’re not supposed to eat sweet food.

Yesterday I decided to be a responsible citizen so I went with my sibling to NIH, National Institute of Health, to get myself tested for COVID-19. After attending a weekend of functions and exposure to a lot of people made me worried of getting the virus and transmitting it to anyone. They were supposed to send the result by tonight. My sibling got it but I didn’t get mine. Strange, I hope it’s not bad news…
Friday, 13th November

I called NIH today to ask why I didn’t get my result. Turns out, they did send it to me. I must’ve accidentally deleted that message. Ooopps!! On the other hand, they told me my result came out negative so yippy!!
Some students are planning to open a chapter of Chal Foundation in out college so we went over there for an introductory meeting, explaining what this foundation is about and what their plans are. Chal Foundation is an NGO that provides custom-made prosthetics to disabled people such as amputtees, orthotic devices that provide support to the body and wheelchairs to people such as paraplegic or who have spinal cord injuries. We saw the process from the assessment room to the making and refining of the prosthetics to the gym room where patients are giving physiotherapy to make themselves comfortable with the prosthetics. The aim of opening this chapter is to increase awareness of this foundation and to provide the poor in-coming patients of the hospital my college is associated with, the opportunity to receive free prosthetics as hospitals do not provide such services. I hope this initiative works out. I’ll write more about this foundation in a post.

It’s been a week and we’re still munching through Nikkah food which the marriage hall sent us afterwards. It includes chicken tikka wings, seekh kebab, chicken qorma, naans & rotis and salad. The leftovers of our leftovers are munched by the dogs. Therefore, happy eating the whole week!

Congratulations to your sister and her husband. It sounds like you had a lovely time.
I hope your exam went well.
That’s great news about the negative covid result. We have been told only to get a test if we’re showing symptoms here in the UK, mostly.
All the food sounds so good. x

Congratulations to your sister on her marriage, I hope the leftover foods are still safe to eat after a week. Too much coffee makes me pee a lot, but I won’t stop drinking it, only have one a day. Good luck now with your exams both written and pratical

Let me join everyone else in saying Congratulations to your sister and her husband! Sounds like it was a lovely event! The hall looks very festive. Glad to know that you had a test, and that it was negative. It must have been a worry to attend an event with lots of people in current circumstances. You asked about the coffee and certain side effects. I believe the strong coffee is often recommended for people who are constipated, as the caffeine stimulates the bowels. Hope your exam went well. I love Lindt dark chocolate as well. My favourite is Lindt Dark Sea Salt, sooo tasty.

Congratulations to your sister. I cried at my sister’s wedding rehearsal but managed to hold it together for the actual day. I like dark chocolate as it is often vegan! #project366

Glad to hear you tested negative. It must be worrying to get together with so many people at the moment, but it sounds like you had a great time. Congratulations to the happy couple ! I don’t drink coffee so I can’t help you out with that one unfortunately ! I hope the exam went well. The meal with your friends looks lovely and I did giggle at the cats !
