Project 366 2020 – WEEK 23

Bismillah Hir Rahman Ir Raheem

Peace and blessings be upon you all

I had a food-filled week so brace for impact!

Sunday, 31st May

Here I am enjoying a wonderful day, recharging my mind via reading a spiritual book called Alif (the first letter in Urdu and Arabic alphabets), and recharging my tummy via this delicious salad.

Monday, 1st June

Summer is blooming and mangoes are ripening!! Usually mango is cut into cubes and served in a fruit salad but there’s a separate sort of joy in being messy like enjoying some sweet mango.

Tuesday, 2nd June

One of my favorite, flavourful dishes in my culture is Chicken Qorma made by my sibling which I literally wait every week for because it is so delicious (although appearing a bit too oily)!!

Wednesday, 3rd June

My family and I have finished watching the old Pakistani classic called An Kahi and since we have all the time in our hands now, why not watch another one? So here commences Sitaara & Mehr-un-Nisa (the two women whose pictures are shown above) written by Anwar Maqsood who’s a playwright whose every play I attend in the theatre, like Siachen and Nach Na Jaaney.

Thursday, 4th June

When caulifower looks so tempting you want to dive into it. When I was little, I considered brocolli as tiny trees….and cauliflower as yellow tiny trees.

Friday, 5th June

I came across this very spiritual and thought-provoking statement in the book I’m currently reading called Alif which I can’t put down. Here’s its translation:

“We think that the things we buy, the things we have, we are their masters. We don’t become their masters but actually we become their slaves. They become our masters. Their lives don’t revolve around us, our lives start revolving around them”

Alif by Umera Ahmed

It’s a well-explained reminder of us not to fall deep into materialism that it starts ruling over us, so that we can finally be at peace with ourselves.

Saturday, 6th June

Chocolate cupcakes, anyone? I sent virtual chocolate cupcakes to you all.

The reminder was too good. Dar asal yehi haqeeqat hai ke ek waqt aisa aata hai ke hum un cheezon ke ghulam van jaate hain. I’m sure it must be a wonderful book and the food sure looks so yummy specially the cake.
Mmmmm lipsmacking.

Can I have my virtual cup cakes dairy free please? lol
Cute how children call foods by different names and still use it as adults. My daughter use to call biscuits teddy….n sure if it was because I would give her a biscuit and say to share it with teddy.
Nice to have time to spend watching films together as a family.

A very foodie post this week. I’ve been cooking lots and I’ve tried out a few new recipes including a lamb keema recipe that my neighbours gave me.

It certainly is a lot of food this week and it all looks delicious! My husband grew up thinking of cauliflower and broccoli as ‘trees’ too.

Love seeing all your food – love the look of the chicken korma and cupcakes, but even the cauliflower and salad look delicious ! It’s great to have time to catch up with your TV programmes. I’ve been enjoying Netflix during confinement – I wonder if I’ll still manage to make time now that I’m back at work ?!

Thank you for the warning of a food filled post! 🙂 You had me at the chocolate muffins so I was always going to dive in! 🙂
I love cauliflower, it’s a huge staple for me following Keto. That Quorma looks stunning and I bet it is so tasty, no wonder you look forward to that every week! Sim x

Loved looking at all your food pics. The cupcakes look delicious. I’m with you on eating mango the messy way, it’s much tastier like that. I haven’t had Chicken Korma in ages, and would like to know how you cook the cauliflower salad.
The quote on materialistic world is spot on.

My girls used to think of broccoli as being tiny trees too and cauliflower was “white broccoli” for a while. Those chocolate cupcakes look delicious. I love the quote you shared – it’s very thought-provoking and a good reminder that material things can have a lot of power over us. #project366

I love broccoli and cauliflower and need to find a good vegan sauce recipe as caulibroc cheese was always one of my favourites. Love the decoration on the cupcakes #project366

Love seeing all food pictures they make me feel hungry. Especially the mango which looks delicious I wish we could get fresh ripe fruit here but at the moment it seems to go from too hard to mush so quickly. Thank you for the virtual cupcake
