Project 366 2020 – WEEK 12

Bismillah Hir Rahman Ir Raheem

Peace and blessings be upon you all

Sunday, 15th March

We celebrated my sibling’s birthday at Chikachino (yep, we went there again). We made a custom fondant cake based on my sibling’s room in Lahore with all their artwork, furniture, stuffed toys (we’re all kids on the inside), books, laptop with ‘GOT’ written on it, etc. I had haleem at Chikachino which was great and I invited a friend of mine who lives far but badly wanted to meet my sibling. I wore this shirt I got from Mango the day before with black trousers.

Monday, 16th March

Today, we’ve officially started to take Corona Virus seriously. We try to stay at home except when we have to get groceries from the market. It did take time to convince some family members not to go to gym, dinners, etc. (some did go & we were furious).

The thing about me is that I’m never bored. I always have many things to do which were pending when college used to be open so I have plenty of time to do those. One of them is learning Arabic. Through a follower of mine, I came across a Pakistani teacher, Aamir Sohail, who taught Arabic about two years ago. His teaching methods are very effective and fun so it’s not overwhelming and I’ve learnt alot. Here’s my progress so far.

Tuesday, 17th March

Social distancing has allowed me to watch Dirilis Ertugrul again. Two hour long episodes; we meet again.

Wednesday, 18th March

This is some irony that my mother said we should watch this movie while not exactly knowing what it’s about, other than how obvious the movie title is. We’ll watch it in the weekend.

Thursday, 19th March

Mother’s cooking is definitely the best! I’m currently munching lasagne with garlic bread. Delicious!!

Friday, 20th March

A recent twist on John F. Kennedy’s speech.

Saturday, 21st March

The current situation of Corona Virus cases in Pakistan is presented below. According to statistics, our initial rise in cases is even more than that in Italy. May Allah protect us from the virus, protect the doctors who are currently at war with the virus, and to find a cure quickly. Ameen.

  1. Happy birthday to your sibling.
Ahh! Coronavirus needs to be taken seriously. It’s hitting hard here and has me terrified. Good luck with learning Arabic. It is the perfect time to learn something when we’re stuck indoors.
That doesn’t sound like the best film to watch with the situation we’re in.
The last I read I think there was 5000 cases here in the UK. Stay safe x

  2. We have the same problem here with everything closing down but people still going out . Our village mums group said they were going to do a rounders game on the green for the kids, but keep them socially distancing. The person who organised it is a doctor. I just think it’s nuts. Everyone needs to just stay home. Interesting to see the information posters from your country.

  3. It is a scary time. I hope everyone there is taking it seriously. It seems a lot of people in the UK are still spending too much time in groups and the message isn’t getting through to everyone.
The birthday cake you made sounds amazing and I love your Arabic writing. I love that you say you don’t get bored. I must admit that I do get bored! I have things to do, but I just really like to be outside, so I hope we never get stopped from going outside.

  4. Happy birthday to your sibling and sounds like you are making the most of being isolated right now – good luck with learning Arabic. It is such a scary time with the shadow of coronavirus hanging over all of us and scary too that your initial rise is sharper than Italy’s. Hope you and your family stay safe. #project366

  5. The coronavirus is very worrying and a lot here are still not taking it seriously.

The shirt is very colourful and the lasagna looks delicious! I love lasagna but the rest of the family aren’t keen so I don’t bother making it just for myself!

  6. yes the UK has more cases than Italy at the same time as well.
Think we are all seriously worried as it is now very real.
Happy belated birthday to your sibling.

  7. Sounds like you are doing your bit for Coronavirus, but struggling the same way we are with the rest fo the community. Why people don’t stay at home is beyond me. Hope your sibling has a great birthday. Stay safe x

  8. These are worrying and scary times, everything has changed so dramatically. Happy belated birthday to your brother! You’re so clever to learn Arabic! Your Mum’s lasagne looks very tasty. My husband also watched Contagion last week, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to watch it. Maybe, one day, when it’s all over.
