Bismillah Hir Rahman Ir Raheem
This week was not as good as it normally was. I prepared for an event which didn’t turn out well and was not worth it and it seemed to have its repercussions on the rest of my week. But on the bright side, I had a Welcome party on Friday! 😁
Sunday, 3rd March
I went to Lahore on Saturday to attend the event of VFAHT called VCON, which I mentioned last week. On Sunday, I stayed over at Fatima Jinnah university hostel. Its a government university hostel and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, other than the fact that there wasn’t any muslin shower.
The canteen had a good menu ranging from sandwiches to barbeque. I had a club sandwich and coffee at a very reasonable price of Rs.160.
Monday, 4th March
The event didn’t turn out so well. It was quite disorganised and the food wasn’t good. I spent the whole day regretting that I even thought of attending this conference. My team didn’t do well in the public health quiz and STOHP competition. I kept thinking I could’ve spent the whole weekend properly understanding development of embryo but I wasn’t able to study. And this had an effect on my mood and concentration for the rest of the week.
Tuesday, 5th March
Coffee is becoming an essential part of my routine to prevent me from sleeping too soon when I’m supposed to be studying. I’ve been struggling with this from the start and it is really effecting my studies. I hope it improves because I can’t afford to miss any moment to study, especially for Cell Structure and Function module.
I spent today studying all night for a test I could’ve had an entire weekend to study for. I shed my first tears in my MBBS today.
Wednesday, 6th March
Because the clouds looked amazing!
Thursday, 7th March
I spent hours studying a chapter for tomorrow, which turned out to be the wrong chapter. I think I need to get my brain checked.
Friday, 8th March
I got my invitation to our Welcome Party, being given by the Second years to us First Years. The party was today and the theme was Desi (truck art) so I picked a gharara that definitely fit the theme.
My batch gathered in Haunted Hill Park (fancy name) in F-6/3 where we took pictures. We didn’t have a camera so we used our phones.
Then by 6:45pm, we reached the venue in E-11 which was a wedding marquee. There were alot of dance performances, acoustic guitar and singing. The Second Years also made a video of us where they interviewed us and made us do things like sing and do the mannequin challenge and they showed it as if they were broadcasting a news channel, which was a great idea and was amazing!
Then we ate biryani and qorma, fish and chips and bathed in the indulgence of the chocolate fountain! (I LOVED IT!)
By 10pm, the lights of the hall turned off to tell us we had to leave. We were preparing to leave when people started lighting floating lanterns and sending them off in the sky. My friends and I were quite apprehensive that out lantern might burn and not fly but after some effort, our lantern flew and we were exhilarated!
Saturday, 9th March
I finally got enough sleep today and can spend a lazy afternoon with eggs and kebab on garlic smeared toast while I processed whatever happened at the Welcome 😁
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
To sum it up, I had a great end to this week. But all in all, whatever difficulties I go through in life, no matter how hectic, stressful and emotional it makes me, I never forget to pray to Allah Almighty for forgiveness and guidance and I say Alhamdulillah to whatever hardship I experience. But I have learnt in life that even when you accept your mistakes and move on and when Allah wholeheartedly does the same, other people (not all) don’t do so.
So that’s how my week went. How was yours? Let me know in the comments.

lovely food this week for you, shame about the conference though. I too need coffee to get me going in the mornings and through the day

shame your conference did not go as well as you had hoped. Terrible about their being no shower for you,
Turning the lights off is a bit drastic.
Agree those clouds are amazing, very 3D

I am sorry the conference did not go well for you. It must be really tough trying to balance the study and everything else you need to do. Those clouds look beautiful, I really like skies like that.
